Air Hockey!

As far as I can remember, I’ve always loved to play air hockey. Especially, after I’d finished bowling on the lanes, it was straight to the air hockey table with a few mates. This Christmas, our family was fortunate enough to receive an air hockey table as a present from the Frost family. We eagerly set it up and began playing, I won the very first game on the table! Admittedly, I feel that my brother is much better at it than I.
It’s lots of fun, and I invited Ashley over last night after the movies to come and play air hockey. He plays much better after a significant amount of vodka, which is also the worst tasting drink. EVER. Air hockey ftw!
BIOS Beep

What ever happened to BIOS beeps corresponding with the error code in the back of the manual? It appears Asus has completely forgot to append this section to the their recent product line of motherboards. My story begins late on Christmas night when Kyrin comes barging into my room demanding I fix his computer. He’s computer only had 512MB of ram, so I bought him an additional 512MB stick for Christmas. He had attempted to install it himself, since it’s not really that difficult. Still, something went wrong and Captain Tate came to the rescue. After checking the combobulator and a flux capacitor, his computer still kept beeping. It’s definitely not the de facto standard “Video card” or “RAM” beep, it was somewhat different. I was unable to find on the Asus website or manual the motherboard beep codes, and this is the same for another two Asus boards I’ve previous worked with. Whatever happened to the good old days where you could beep to your heart’s content? Not really, you could resolve the problem by checking the back of the manual. Curse you motherboard manufactures!
Christmas Adventure 2005

What a long, fun packed day I, my family and friends have had! It began with a cruise and lunch on the Kookaburra Queen, a steam paddle boat that goes up and down the Brisbane River. The cruise went for about 2 hours starting at the Eagle St. Peir and going up river towards St. Lucia. My Grandma had booked this trip around August. We pretty much had the best seat on deck. It was outside under cover and as a result, the temperature was nice and cool… especially with the breezes. Lunch consisted of your traditional hams and turkey with roasted vegies and gravy or you could opt for the more modern approach and try seafood. Personally, I love meat and I went for turkey and ham. I had Completely overloaded my plate, but it was great! I got some nice pictures of the cruise, which you can view here. In addition, I received the digital camera as apart of a Christmas present from father.
Finally, we arrived home and began opening presents before Adrian called up inviting us over to his place. His cousin had stopped by and brought his Honda CBR1000RR Firebird. It’s a fantastic bike, very comfy. I was fortunate enough to grab a few pictures which I’ll update later. We spent a few good hours there before heading home as we had all become fairly tired, especially with the amount of presents those guys opened up :O.
Merry Christmas!

Tatey.com moves to Bur.st
Posted in This Site on Sunday, 11th December 2005 (9 Comments »)
Ashley recently informed me of a free service called Bur.st Networking. They’re basically an Australian based non-profit ISP who operate out of donations from it’s respective users. For the time being, I’m trialling this service and if it meets my expectations, I’m more than happy to contribute annually donations. There are several advantages of switching tatey.com over to Bur.st. Using BIND Zones, I have much more control over all aspects of the domains. For example, I can now have http://tatey.com rather than the annoying www because I have a dynamic IP and use DynDNS. Previously, my existent register only permitted A-Records (IP Address) which is useless for dynamic IPs. Secondly, it should be “faster” to resolve, since it’s Australian based. You can check our Bur.st here, they offer a wide array of useful services. This website may appear down over the next 48 hours as the domain name switches to Bur.st. In the meantime, this website is accessible through http://shoeboxj492.dyndns.org. Cheers.
Update: After much stuffing around, I still could not achieve what I wanted with Bur.st and my domain was down for over a week. Completely unacceptable. I opted to switch back to Joker.com and I’ll try Bur.st in the future when I can get my head around forwarding tatey.com to another CNAME without the www. Their help and support was fast and friendly, thumbs up.
