Easily and consistently rename entire TV seasons
Posted in Miscellaneous on Thursday, 10th May 2007 (19 Comments »)
Chris pointed me to a “File renaming script“. If you’re someone like me, then you probably have entire seasons of TV episodes on your HTPC. Often these episodes are correctly categorised in a format similar to “TV Show/Season X”. However, the individual file names of each episode are usually inconsistent, full of silly tags and lacking the episode title. This makes finding TV episodes overwhelming and confusing. Certainly more difficult than it should have to be.
The program available on this page is designed to intelligently rename tv series’s video files on a PC. You provide the program with a folder full of video files that all belong to the same TV series, and it goes off and searches the web for the episode listings and renames all the files so they have a consistent format (i.e. “SeriesName 1×01 - Episode title”) without any of the usual filename cruft (”…DVD-Screener.AC3.[htdv].XviD.lol…” etc).
If you’ve always been seeking an easy method to automatically rename your TV episodes in to a consistent format, than this is your answer. It’s available as a Windows executable or a platform independent Perl script.
Introducing my brother’s new toy, the Toyota Chaser JZX100
Posted in Miscellaneous, Life++ on Wednesday, 25th April 2007 (3 Comments »)
Towards the end of 2006, my brother opted to import a vehicle from Japan. Finally, after six months of waiting he arrived from central Queensland late this morning in his 1997 Toyota Chaser.
Typically, I’ve never shown much interest towards cars as I favour motorbikes. None the less, I can still appreciate an aesthetically pleasing, fast and well built vehicle. This is certainly how I’d describe my brother’s car. He has a few surprises planned. I’ll ask him to share more information later. In the mean time, you may be interested in viewing the gallery album.
She’s a girl dog

Whenever somebody meets Trixie for the first time, they always assume she’s a he. I’m not entirely sure why, perhaps because of her bark. “Ear piercing” is how a mate once described it. None the less, the family loves her all the same. Anyhow, she’s had the same collar for approximately 8 years and on the weekend my father decided to purchase her a new one.
When I walked into the lounge and noticed that her collar was purple, I immediately exclaimed “It’s a girl dog!”. The colour purple on a pet is usually associated with a female. Now, when people meet Trixie for the first time will they will correctly identify her as a female.
Australian TV network logo’s for MythTV
Posted in IT, Miscellaneous, Linux on Friday, 17th November 2006 (No Comments »)
In an attempt to add a complete touch to my MythTV setup I searched for high resolution logo’s of each TV network in Australia. Furthermore, I have created a “HD” emblem which has been applied to each network logo. This enables the person viewing TV to distinguish easily between standard and high definition channels.
They’re now located in my gallery and for use with a MythTV box. Please be aware that these logo’s are the property of their respective networks and copyright laws apply.
Installation:
Download these logo’s on to your system. I place mine in ~/.mythtv/logos. With mythtv-setup select “5. Channel Editor” and change the icon path for each channel to point to the location of the logo. Enjoy!
UPDATE: I’ve created an entirely new icon set, check it out here.
The room of Waiting, or not quite

It appears that my [not so] friend, Ashley Kyd is in the process or writing a story, or what appears to be the beginning of an adventure for a somewhat deceased individual. That doesn’t make much sense, but neither does the short extract that Ashley has posted on his website. None the less, I’m somewhat captured by the story and I really wish I could read more :(. If you’re into random funny’s, you should click your cursor over this link immediately! As I stated on Ashleys website, if it was an extract for a novel, I’d have purchased it.
To pretend is to lie?

I’m having a huge discussion with Tamieka over the terms, “Pretending” and “Lying”. I argue, that they’re both the same, she argues that they’re not. I’m right, she’s wrong. Tamieka insists that I put forward this example.
“Person X is pretending that they’re smoking a cigarette with a standard ballpoint pen. This is not lying, but simply pretending”
Comments appreciated.
Okay thanks bye

Scott the champion finally bought himself a domain name, kthxbi.org. This guy is responsible for Roffle, just a collection of random IRC quotes from #hash and #n00b on irc.oz.org. In addition, he wrote his own PHP blog software and uses valid XHTML/CSS. You should visit his website and post comments ![]()
